BoltAI 2.2.2

New
  • Workflow preview parity. Preview now respects your agent settings—provider, model, system instruction, temperature, token limits, penalties, context policy, and tool selection—so the inline preview matches the final send.
  • Smarter selection capture. Hotkeys and the palette use a new PID-targeted copy helper that activates the frontmost app, restores your clipboard, and reduces empty-selection glitches.
  • Workflow input fidelity. App context and pre-captured selection/clipboard are handed through more consistently when running workflows or launching previews, tightening “what you see is what you send.”
  • Proxy-safe search tools. Brave Search and Google PSE tools now use a secure connection.

BoltAI 2.2.1

New
  • Workflow hotkeys. Assign global shortcuts to individual workflows and trigger them from anywhere; we pre-capture selection/clipboard so runs stay reliable without polluting your pasteboard.
  • Inline workflow AI output. Workflows can now generate answers directly using your configured provider/agent before applying output actions, with smarter provider/model resolution and safer selection capture; agent-specific settings are now respected.
  • Workflow Palette polish. New headless mode for “no preview” workflows, Ctrl+N/Ctrl+P navigation, direct preview launch for a chosen workflow, and clearer progress overlay while runs complete.
  • Shortcut defaults & onboarding tweaks. Updated defaults (Option+Space to toggle the app, Control+Space for the Workflow Palette), better support for alternate keyboard layouts (Dvorak, etc.), plus small onboarding refinements and OAuth reliability improvements.
  • Temporary chat promotion. You can now convert a temporary chat into a normal, synced conversation from the Conversation menu.
  • MCP connectors logging. Added richer logging around MCP/OAuth flows for easier troubleshooting.

BoltAI 2.2.0

New
  • New: Connectors (remote MCP servers). Browse a curated catalog of official MCP connectors (Notion, Linear, Todoist, Supabase, Sentry, and more), sign in via OAuth, and keep your connections synced with BoltAI Cloud—or add your own custom MCP servers when your provider isn’t listed.
  • New: Inline Workflows & Workflow Palette. Highlight text in any app, hit your Workflow Palette shortcut, pick a saved workflow, and BoltAI will run it using your selection or clipboard and paste the answer back into the frontmost app, with flexible input/output behaviors you can customize.
  • Improved: Agent & workflow management. Manage large libraries more easily with bulk-edit tools for agents and workflows, plus a smoother quick-add flow and workflow preview polish.
  • Fixes & reliability. Improved sync stability, more robust imports from older BoltAI data that sometimes lacked text parts, better handling of reasoning settings for custom providers, and many small UI and performance refinements across MCP, workflows, and settings.

BoltAI 2.1.1

New
  • Temporary Chats. Quick Compose and the Companion window can now spin up session-only chats that purge automatically, keep attachments sandboxed, and can be saved as full conversations if you need to keep the thread.
  • Instant Chat Bar preferences. A new settings pane lets you tune reset timing, auto-attachment sources, shake-to-open sensitivity, appearance overrides, and whether Quick Compose always starts in temporary mode for solo or multi-agent runs.
  • Richer message actions. "Delete All Subsequent Messages", "create prompt", Open in Browser and Fork chat (Branch from here).
  • Companion & composer polish. Use ⌘/ to focus the composer instantly, branching chats/prompts from the Companion window no longer fail, and the composer handles command shortcuts more reliably.
  • MCP and context fixes. Eliminated the MCP 100% CPU spike, renamed the binary to "BoltAI 2", fixed malformed chat rows plus folder-specific context policies so multi-agent tools keep the correct settings.

BoltAI 2.1.0

New
  • Added MCP support. BoltAI supports both remote MCP servers (synced with BoltAI Cloud) and local MCP servers (local-only, configured at ~/.boltai/mcp.json). In v2, you can select individual tools from a server instead of enabling the entire set.
  • Multi-agent chat. Send a query to multiple agents at once and compare responses side by side.
  • Instant Dictation settings. New settings page to configure the Instant Dictation feature.

BoltAI v2.0.10: Sub folder, Chat Inspector, Memory Tool and more

NewImproved

Here is the download link if you want to jump straight to the product: Download BoltAI v2

Hi everyone. It’s Daniel again 👋 My goal has always been to make BoltAI the best AI client for Mac. Thanks to your feedback, I’ve made a lot of improvements to the BoltAI v2 app. Update to the latest version v2.0.10 (build 30) and let me know what you think. Here are the most notable changes.

Sub Folder

BoltAI now supports sub folder. Move and reorder folders with drag-and-drop, or use the context menu. Sub Folders

Chat Inspector Pane

Similar to v1, the Chat Inspector Pane allows you to configure chat’s advanced settings. In v2, I improved the UX to make the configuration profile more clear. By default the chat follows the global configuration you set in App Settings. When you customize the LLM parameters, for example, the chat switched to Chat Configuration profile and won’t be affected by the changes in the global configuration. Within a project folder, you can switch between Folder Profile and Chat Profile. In the Info tab, you can find the canonical deep link to the chat. Use this link to refer to the chat on your notes or other apps. When triggered, it would open the exact chat in a new chat companion window. Chat Inspector

Memory Tool

Memory Tool allows LLMs to remember helpful information between conversations, making its response more relevant and personalized. Make sure you’re using a model with tool-use capability and enable the plugin in the Tools popover. When applicable, LLM would automatically use and update memories to improve the response. You can also teach the model to remember something new by simply saying it. For example: “Remember that I’m an indie developer and would prefer a simple solution to engineering problems”. You can manage the memories in Settings > Plugins > Memories. Memory Tool

Web Fetch

Web Fetch Tool gives LLM the ability to read the content of a web page. It’s pretty straightforward: enable it in Tool popover and ask the model about a particular web page. With the Web Fetch tool, you can use a local model while still accessing up-to-date content from the internet. This allows you to enjoy the benefits of current information without compromising your privacy. Web Fetch tool is automatically enabled when using a search tool such as Brave Search. Web Fetch Tool

Other quality-of-life improvements:

  • Recent Dictations. Find your recent dictations in the app menubar. Useful when auto-paste fails.
  • New Developer Settings. Allow resetting local database and re-sync everything.
  • Instant Chat Bar auto-attaches clipboard snippets or the current selection (requires Accessibility permission)
  • Reply-finished notifications let BoltAI alert you as soon as a background response wraps up; toggle this in Settings → General.
  • Set AI Service Order. Change the order of configured AI Services in the service selection popover.
  • Project Default Plugins. You can configure the default plugin for a project now.
  • Other bug fixes and improvements.

And that’s it for this week

I’m going to make BoltAI v2 the best AI chat app for Mac. And I need your help to shape the future of it. Please keep the feedback coming 🙏
